Join us as we examine race, prejudice, privilege, and justice. This novel tells the story of Ruth, a very experienced African American labor and delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital. Ruth is told that she cannot tend to a newborn whose parents are white supremacists and don’t want Ruth to touch their baby. The next day, the child goes into cardiac distress while Ruth is by herself in the nursery. She hesitates before performing CPR and is eventually charged with a major crime.
